5 days to pre-order the Unit 44 GN!

An amazing thing happened this week — we reached our crowdfunding goal for the Unit 44 Kickstarter!

The now-successful Kickstarter will allow us to print 750 copies of the hilarious graphic novel to be distributed to comic book shops, book stores, and libraries for release on Aug. 30, 2017.

If you’d like to preorder your copy and grab some goodies in the process, hit this link >> https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/weslocher/unit-44-ever-wish-the-x-files-was-a-sitcom

A huge thanks goes out to everyone who pledged their hard earned dollars as well as our publisher, Alterna Comics, for helping us bring the ridiculous sci-fi/comedy romp to a whole new audience!

Unit 44 Update #12

U44_Issue3_CoverBack in August I reported that my sci-fi/comedy comic book UNIT 44, with artist Eduardo Jimenez had been picked up for publication by Alterna Comics. It was an awesome day. I remember it well.

Since then, Ed and I have been hunkered down makings things happen in order to get the book to your eyes sooner rather than later. Ed has been drawing his heart out, penciling, inking and coloring 2-3 pages a week and tossing them back my way so I can letter them up with my snarky dialogue and silly jokes. In short…it’s been awesome.

Thanks to the financial and emotional support of the 94 amazing people who supported our Kickstarter campaign in August/September, we are officially closer to the end of the project than the beginning. Earlier this week we completed work on the third issue of the series and we’ve started work on the final 22 pages.

With just one more installment to go to complete this 4-issue miniseries, we’re eyeballing an early 2015 release, more than likely on a bi-monthly schedule. Issues will be released digitally via ComiXology with a physical and digital trade paperback to follow. More on that as we nail things down!

When I initially thought up the silly idea about inept Area 51 employees who forget to pay the rent on the facility’s off-site storage unit, leaving the secret contents to be sold at public auction, I never dreamed it would become a reality. So that’s pretty cool. I can’t wait for you to read this hilarious and irreverent comic book.

Unit 44 – Coming this fall from Alterna Comics

Well, folks…we did it.

With the support of 94 amazing people, artist Eduardo Jimenez and I raised $2,800 via the Kickstarter crowdfunding platform to bring our sci-fi/comedy comic UNIT 44 to digital shelves this year from Alterna Comics.

In a campaign designed to provide strictly digital rewards, which helped us keep our asking amount very, very low, comic and humor fans still supported us in the endeavor and personally, I can thank everyone enough.

Art for issue #2 is complete and design on the interiors and back matter has begun. We hope to soon share a release date of when you’ll be able to pick up the book through ComiXology and other fine retailers. We’ll also be releasing a physical trade paperback in early 2015, so if you’re waiting until you can hold the book in your hands, it won’t be too long a wait!

I shared this with our Kickstarter backers, but it bears repeating…I wrote the story and script for UNIT 44 in November/December 2012, and nearly every day I have been thinking about the characters and their zany world. Words can’t describe what it means to finally be able to bring it to life in 2014.

4 More Days to get UNIT 44 out this year!

For the past 30 days, I’ve been dumping heart and soul into promoting the Kickstarter campaign for my upcoming sci-fi/comedy comic book series UNIT 44 that artist Eduardo Jimenez and I will (hopefully) release this fall from Alterna Comics.

Well, we’re almost at the end of our run with just 4 days left and approximately $560 left to raise. If you haven’t given it a look, I encourage you to do so by clicking the link below.

UNIT 44 on Kickstarter!

Even though we completed the first issue of our series last year, we’re on course to publish all four issues by the end of 2014. The money raised from the campaign will allow Ed to set aside commission work and several other projects to focus solely on completing the remaining issues of the series.

Since the comic will be released through the ComiXology platform as a digital-first initiative, we aren’t offering printed copies, but we hope you’ll help us do the most important thing, which is to finish the comic book. (We will release a physical collected edition in 2015, though!)

We have some amazing rewards from a digital copy of the first issue for $3, to a digital subscription to all of the issues for $15. You can even pay $35 and get digital downloads of every comic I’ve ever released to date or splurge a little bit and get yourself drawn into the comic for $100. There’s plenty of other good stuff, too!

Thanks to all of my readers who have already supported the project, and as the clock winds down, I hope you’ll consider donating a little bit of money to help Ed and I bring this project to life!

We get it…times are tough and spare change isn’t as plentiful as it once was. Even by sharing a link to our campaign on your social media sites, it would help us get the word out, and that is hugely appreciated.

Thanks so much for reading and considering our project!
